COLORDIMENSIONS DEVELOPPED A SYSTEM TO CONTROL THE VARIATIONS OF ASPECT OF MATERIALS

The SYSTEM that we developed is the fruit of an effort of research with ARMINES (Team "Propriétés Psycho-Sensorielles des Matériaux", "Centre des Matériaux de Grande Diffusion" from Ecole des Mines d'Alès, at Pau).

The innovating tools we developped bring to the producers and to the transformers the means to control the metallized and pearlessent effects, the brightness and the texture of materials to all the production stages.

A INNOVATING METHOD
It is from now possible to simply analyze what one sees: visual effects combining brightness, texture and color and aspect defaults.

This innovation is based on the combination of:
- a technique of patented acquisition.
- a software tool for treatment allowing to characterize the visual perception of the effects of matter.

Each industrialist manufactures products different from the other producers. For this reason, it is necessary to adapt the tools for treatment to the various needs for the industrialists.

The ColorDIMENSIONS system has results in the form of values of aspect of synthesis. It is then possible to calculate a sensory correlation for each industrialist. This tool of specific correlation to each industrialist provides a relation between measurements and the results of visual appreciation.

Each industrial field encounters particular problems of measurement of the aspect - manufacture of effects materials ; - management of the surface or the voluminal effects, complex and combined. ColorDIMENSIONS brings its expertise to define with the users the parameters of analysis and measurement to controle the produced effects.

The multispectral measurement, the metrological analysis and the development of specific indices make it possible each user to find solutions with the problems of visual aspect which it meets.

The work with the industrialists brings a better comprehension of the problems and brings elements to communicate more easily and effectively on the visual variations of materials between the clients and the suppliers.

With the single visualization tools and management of the effects of materials, ColorDIMENSIONS proposes to add sensory indices developed specifically for each trade and each user.

- Colorimetric Control of effetc colours (metallized and pearlessent effects)
- Analysis of the various characteristics of the aspect (brightness, texture)
- Combined Analysis of the elements of perception (color, brightness, texture) in the form of specific indices.
Example: detection, analyzes, tolerance of the perceived defaults: index of the perception of a defect of texture of surface according to the color; analyze perception of wear or stain of a usual material, measures and analyzes preception of the orange skin…
- The functions of analysis and measurement can also be automated according to the user's needs.
